和訳 When The Children Cry（ホエン・ザ・チルドレン・クライ）/ White Lion（ホワイト・ライオン）
今回、和訳してみたのはアメリカのロックバンドWhite Lion（ホワイト・ライオン）が歌う、When the Children Cry（ホエン・ザ・チルドレン・クライ）です。
White Lion（ホワイト・ライオン）はデンマーク人のボーカリストMike Tramp（マイク・トランプ）とアメリカ人のギタリストVito Bratta（ヴィト・ブラッタ）が1983年に結成したバンドです。
1992年に解散してしまうのですが、それまでに4枚のアルバムをリリースし、When the Children Cry（ホエン・ザ・チルドレン・クライ）が収録されているセカンド・アルバム「Pride（プライド）」は、ダブル・プラチナ（200万枚の売り上げ）を達成しています。
White Lion（ホワイト・ライオン）は社会問題に関心をよせ、アパルトヘイト、エルサルバドルの内戦、グリーンピースの戦いなどをテーマにした楽曲も歌っています。
今回、和訳をしたWhen the Children Cry（ホエン・ザ・チルドレン・クライ）はボーカルのMike Tramp（マイク・トランプ）が幼少期に体験したことから着想を得ているようです。
戦争をやめようという歌にも聞こえますが「子どもたちは世界の宝なんだから大切にしよう。子どもたちが笑顔になれば世界が変わる」という歌になっています。
